Swindon Osteoporosis Support Group
We are the Swindon Osteoporosis Support Group. Welcome to our website!
Who we are We are a friendly self-help group which aims to improve the quality of life of people with osteoporosis living in the Swindon area. What is Osteoporosis? Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become more porous and fragile, and the risk of fractures increases.  In the UK about 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will break a bone because of osteoporosis.  The good news is that it can be managed with a combination of lifestyle changes and appropriate medication.  Exercise and diet can help reduce the risk of fractures, control pain and maintain independence. What we do We offer people with Osteoporosis and their friends and families opportunities to find out more about the condition, identify ways of managing it and give each other practical support.  We hold our meetings in Central Swindon and invite guest speakers to give us talks on relevant topics such as medication, exercise and diet.  We also enjoy talks on subjects of general interest and hold occasional social events. We make a small charge for admission to help cover our costs. We have also received financial support from Swindon Borough Council and the Midcounties Co-operative. Contact us For details of our meetings and events, please follow us on our Facebook page or contact us by email at swindonosteoporosis@googlemail.com or telephone on 01793 634424. Do come and join us – you will be most welcome!

We hope to be in a position to resume our activities in the autumn.  Please check our Facebook page or telephone 01793 634424 for further information."     Meetings are held at the Central Community Centre, Emlyn Square, Swindon SN1 5BP at 1.30pm with exception of the Cream Tea.
